Find out how to read your Individual Student Report

Report Overview

The new individual student report lets you and your teacher keep track of your activities, performance, and growth on Zinc. You can access the report from your dropdown menu.

The heading of the report will show you:

  • Your name

  • Which class(es) you are in

  • Your most recent Level Placement

  • How many article quizzes you completed during the selected date range

  • How many vocabulary words you encountered during the selected date range

  • How many Close Reading Experiences you completed during the selected date range

Articles

View the Articles tab on the report to track:

  • Total articles read (meaning article quizzes completed)

  • Overall quiz average score

  • How many quizzes completed on your current level

  • Average quiz score on quizzes at your current level

  • How many quizzes you completed on your current level

  • How many quizzes you completed above your current level

  • How many quizzes you completed below your current level

  • A breakdown of which channels your completed quizzes are categorized into

  • A breakdown of which genres your completed quizzes are categorized into

You will see a list of your most recent article quizzes and comparison quizzes. You are able to track:

  • Article title

  • Article level

  • Who assigned the article and how it was assigned (directly, through Lift Off, or self-selected by you)

  • When it was assigned

  • Status (not started, in progress, or with a completion date)

  • Score (both percentage and score)

  • A link to the individual quiz report in which you can check your predictions and each multiple choice answer

You will also see a proficiency breakdown for a variety of reading skills and your state's standards. These percentages reflect how you did on article quiz questions mapped to the particular skill or standard. You can check the fraction ("10/11 correct") to see how many of each question type you have answered on your article quizzes so far.

Tip: Use the data range in the upper right corner of the report to zero in on times when you were working at your individual reading level (during Lift Off) or at grade level (when you were assigned a grade-level article with the rest of your class).

Tip: Gauge growth by comparing scores from the first few months of school to the last few months of school, taking into account if you were working on articles at your independent reading level or at grade level.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary section of the Individual Student Report provides the following data:

  • Total words learned during the selected date range

  • Number of words learned from stand-alone vocabulary sets (not related to articles)

  • Number of words learned from article based vocabulary sets

  • A graph showing the number of words you have encountered during different numbers of exposures through spaced repetition

View a list of vocabulary sets you have been assigned:

  • The name of the set (if it is a set that was assigned with an article, you will see "10-Word Vocab Set: "Article Title")

  • Total words in the set (all article sets are 10 words)

  • Who assigned the set and how it was assigned (directly, through Lift Off, or self-selected by you)

  • When the set was assigned

  • When the set was last played

  • Status (not started, in progress, or with a completion date)

  • A "carrot" icon that allows you to see more data about a stand-alone sets and spaced repetition

Click the "carrot" icon on the right side of the row for stand-alone sets to see your progress with spaced repetition exposures.

Close Reading

Track your Close Reading activity on the Close Reading tab of the report:

  • Total number of Close Readings completed during the selected date range

  • Average difficulty level

  • Average overall score

  • Average effort score (effort score refers to rushing through the activity)

  • Average main idea score (how you scored on the main idea multiple choice question)

  • How many Close Readings you completed on their current level

  • How many Close Readings you completed above their current level

  • How many Close Readings you completed below their current level

You will see a list of Close Readings that you have been assigned with the following information:

  • Passage title, and if you have attempted the Close Reading previously ("2nd attempt," "3rd attempt")

  • The Close Reading's level

  • Who assigned the Close Reading and how it was assigned (directly, through Lift Off, or self-selected by you)

  • When the Close Reading was assigned

  • Status (not started, in progress, or with a completion date)

  • The overall score, main idea score, and effort score

  • A link to the Close Reading Report

Level Placement

The Level Placement tab of the report includes the following data:

  • The number of Level Placements completed during the selected date range

  • The highest reading level you achieved during the selected date range

Below, you'll see a list of Level Placements you have been assigned with the following information:

  • Who assigned the Level Placement and how it was assigned (directly or as part of another assignment)

  • When the Level Placement was assigned

  • Status (not started, in progress, or with a completion date)

  • Level achieved, and an arrow indicating an increase or decrease in score

  • Time since previous Level Placement (most Level Placements must be assigned 3 months apart)

Reading Ignition

The Reading Ignition tab provides the following data:

  • Who assigned Ignition

  • When Ignition was assigned

  • Starting Level

  • Ending Level

Clicking on View Report will give you a more detailed summary of your accomplishments with Ignition.

Adjust Date Range

You can adjust the date range for the report in order to zero in on a particular assignment. You can also compare your proficiency at particular reading skills or standards from the beginning of the grading period to the end.

Print or Save as PDF

Use the "Print" button to print out the report as you see it on the screen.

To save the report as you see it on your screen as a PDF:

  1. Click the green "Print" button

  2. In the "Destination" field of the dialog box, use the dropdown to select "Save as PDF"

  3. Click the "Print" button at the bottom of the dialog box

  4. Name the file and select where on your computer you would like it to save

Points

Points and class rank are no longer included on the Individual Student Report. You will find this information under "Leaderboard" on the dropdown menu.
