Here's what to do for missing students in your rosters or Zinc classes.

Updated over a week ago

Zinc and SpringBoard work together to equip and challenge your students. This team effort benefits everyone, automatically using your SpringBoard rosters to create your Zinc classes.

There are many reasons your rosters might change, such as new students arriving at your school or students switching from one class to another. Your Zinc classes should always reflect what you see in your SpringBoard roster. But what if someone isn't where they are supposed to be in Zinc?

If you access Zinc through SpringBoard, your rosters cannot be changed inside Zinc. But don't worry, there are solutions. Let's look at what needs to be done when a student in your class is missing inside Zinc.

Check Your SpringBoard Roster

When a student is missing in Zinc, the first step is to check your SpringBoard roster. Zinc can't use data that isn't there. Because Zinc uses SpringBoard to create your classes, your class must be correct in SpringBoard.

Please be aware that we cannot make changes to your SpringBoard roster. If your SpringBoard roster is inconsistent with your actual class, any issues must be corrected inside SpringBoard.

Please find the person on your campus or in your district who is in charge of your SpringBoard rosters. Let them know details about which students need to be added or removed, such as a missing student's name and ID number.

But sometimes your SpringBoard roster is correct, yet your Zinc classes are incorrect. In that case, there is still a solution, and it only takes a couple of minutes.

When Zinc and SpringBoard Don't Match

What do you do if your SpringBoard roster is correct, but students are still missing from Zinc? We serve many schools, and sometimes it takes time for the data changes to catch up. Here's all you need to do.

Go to your Zinc dashboard and click on "Manage Classes." This action gives you access to another menu.

Once you've clicked on My Zinc and gotten access to the next menu, click on Classes and Students.

Once you're on the Classes and Students page, you may choose to refresh all your classes or a specific class. If you'd like to refresh all your classes, click on "Actions," and then click on "Refresh Class List." After waiting a couple of minutes, refresh the page.

If you'd like to refresh a specific class, click on the class title in question. This will take you to a new page for that class. To refresh only this class, click "Actions" and then "Refresh Class Roster." Once again, you'll wait for a couple of minutes and then refresh the page.

Once you've refreshed all your classes or a specific class, check to make sure the students who were missing are now where they are supposed to be.

When Students Are Still Missing

Generally, the above actions should resolve any issues with your SpringBoard rosters and Zinc classes. If you are still missing students, you will need to contact Zinc Support by clicking on the icon in the bottom right corner of your Zinc dashboard.

If this occurs, send us a list of any missing students, or any other data that is incorrect in your Zinc classes. Please provide the first and last names of any students, as well as their emails (if available). Make sure to include which classes should include each student.

This information will help us discover what is causing the issue so that your Zinc class can run smoothly.
