Zinc believes in accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. We are committed to making our site accessible to all individuals, regardless of ability. We’re working toward meeting W3C’s WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines by summer 2026. We are also committed to complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Guidelines and other applicable web accessibility laws.

Accessibility details
Zinc’s platform supports students of different reading levels and needs, including students with IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) and other learning requirements.
Zinc’s reading programs (Ignition and Lift Off) are auto-differentiated by level for each student, and teachers can differentiate other assignments at the individual or class level. Additionally, Zinc reading programs and student-selected activities are choice-driven.
Zinc Close Reading Experiences and Ignition comprise video-guided interactive experiences and include written transcripts.
In Zinc’s multi-modal vocabulary tools, vocab words include an audio pronunciation option and many words have Spanish supports.
Accessibility Browser Add-Ons and Extensions
Zinc is compatible with many accessibility add-ons and extensions for browsers. If your accessibility tool is not compatible with Zinc, please reach out to us at support@zinclearninglabs.com.
For Chromebook users, Chromebooks have built-in text-to-speech with ChromeVox, which can be turned on by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Z. Once ChromeVox is turned on, we recommend changing the settings by pressing Search+O+O (that's holding down the search button while quickly pressing O ("oh") twice). On the settings page, we recommend toggling off all of the options except "Read text under the mouse," which should be toggled on. Then ChromeVox will only read text that the user places the mouse cursor over.
